We began the month of August with Dana & Jeff’s Beautiful Rustic Wedding Barn Wedding out in Steinbach, MB. The day was perfect – lots of sun with a little bit of clouds and a gorgeous clear sky for an incredible prairie sunset.
The day began in a relaxed fashion. We absolutely love that The Rustic Wedding Barn has an onsite “getting ready house”. What a perfect spot for Dana and her bridesmaids to relax and spend time together.
Once Jeff and his groomsmen arrived onsite, they set to work putting together the last of the decorations and then headed off to the onsite B&B. Another gorgeous space! We loved how both Dana and Jeff could be onsite, but that we could keep them hidden from each other so that Dana’s wish for Jeff to see her for the first time as she walked down the aisle could happen!
With many options of where to have their ceremony on the site, Dana & Jeff chose to get married in the Hayshed Barn. What an incredibly beautiful space. It was so romantic and wonderful, it just added to the already amazing day.
When the Pastor began the ceremony, he started off with the quote from the “Princess Bride” movie “Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togethew today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam. And wove, twue wove, wiww fowwow you fowevah and evah… So tweasuwe youw wove”. We’re not sure who laughed harder, Dana and Jeff or us! (PS – Best movie EVER!)
One of the advantages to having your wedding at the Rustic Wedding Barn is that everything can be done in one spot! After the Ceremony, we were able to pop over to some shade for the family photos and then spend some time with the wedding party.
What a fun wedding party! Thank you all for being such amazing friends to Dana and Jeff and for making our day so much fun!!
We loved how excited Dana and Jeff were to be married and how they couldn’t stop smiling. The grounds of the site were so incredible, everywhere we looked we wanted to stop and take pictures!!
Our favourite part of their reception was when their MC, Chris, brought out a bottle of Screech. Chris is from the east coast and they have a tradition of having a “Screech-In”. This is a ceremony for non-Newfoundlanders who are asked if they’d like to become Newfoundlanders. Chris had everyone howling with laughter as he slipped on his rubber gloves and brought out a Cod Fish! As tradition goes, they each had to kiss the fish and recite the response “”‘Deed I is, me ol’ cock! And long may yer big jib draw!” Translated, it means “Yes I am, my old friend, and may your sails always catch wind.”
As the evening went on we snuck them out for sunset photos, they were so genuinely happy that we couldn’t stop smiling either! There is just something about a prairie sky that gets us every time. And when the groom points out that the moon is rising, you definitely turn around and stop to take a shot!
Dana and Jeff, thank you so much for having us be a part of your day. We loved meeting your families and friends and truly felt welcome. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
We wish you a lifetime of happiness – we’re so happy for you!
